Building a generous and sustainable brand universe for an independent chocolate company form the heart of Bavaria

MOMENTAUFNAHME

This project reflects on the electric time before the outbreak of World War One in 8 individual books, each dedicated to an exciting facet of the early twentieth century's socio-political landscape, based on the writings of Philip Bloom (›Der Taumelnde Kontinent‹, Hanser Verlag).

Between the world exhibition of 1900 and the beginning of the First World War, Europe was in a state of flux – everyday life, art, science and politics were influenced by a wide variety of currents.

Each book was bound by hand and has a different graphic appeal, featuring varying materials, formats and hand lettering. The project was part of the exhibition ›Puchheim – Stillstand und Bewegung‹ at the Puchheim Center for Arts and Culture in 2015 and received the distinguished Certificate of Typographic Excellence by the Type Directors Club, New York, in the same year.
